In order to improve the degradation performance of ZnO based photocatalyst for dyes, activated carbon/ZnO/MoS2 (AZM) composite photocatalyst was prepared by hydrothermal method. The effects of the amount of activated carbon on the degradation of methyl orange (MO) were investigated. The structure of the composite catalyst was characterized. The results show that among all the catalysts, 0.1 g activated carbon doped (0.1 AZM) exhibited the best MO removal ability (about 96.5%), and that the removal rate by photocatalytic system assisted via ultrasonic (k=0.015 8) increased by 32.8% as opposed to mono-photocatalysis system (k=0.011 9). Appropriate amount of AC doping promotes the contact between photocatalyst and dye molecule. And oxidized radical was produced by AZM under the synergistic reaction of light and ultrasonic, which was conducive to degradation of the MO.
