Abstract

This e-book is a compilation of published information on immunology in addition to aspects resulting from the experience and knowledge of its authors. The definitions, basic classifications, components and functions of immunology are described. Hypersensitivity is presented as the basis of immune disorders including those related to Dentistry, such as acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis, hypersensitivity to drugs, AIDS and Sjogren's syndrome. The historical-logical and the deductive and inductive methods were used in the analysis of the documents obtained in the literature review. As a result, ten topics based on the topic III of the Microbiology course and the topic IV of the Pathology course were created. Thus, a book that constitutes a support material for the teaching of immunology to dental students was brought into existence.
