E-pharmacies in India: Empowerment or an Emerging Conundrum?

Abstract

Rapid globalization and increased connectivity led to the launch of e-pharmacies also known as online-pharmacy, internet pharmacy or mail-order pharmacy in 1990s. Despite being a boon of technology, unregulated e-pharmacies have now become an issue of major public health concern requiring international action. This paper analyses the promise and perils of this technology, discusses the measures undertaken by national and regulatory bodies and the possible solutions.
