ANALYSIS OF OUTPUT POWER LEVEL IN FIBER-OPTIC INTERFEROMETRIC SCHEMES WITH MULTIPLEXED SENSING ELEMENTS BASED ON FIBER BRAGG GRATINGS
Abstract
The paper reports on a method for calculating required elements parameters and output optical power level in fiber-optic interferometric schemes with time-division multiplexing (TDM) of sensing elements. In particular, the schemes based on fiber Bragg gratings are analyzed. The proposed method enables to ensure uniformity of powers of optical signals of individual sensing elements, as well as to evaluate how the deviations of elements parameters from the nominal ones influence the optical powers. The underlying mathematical foundations and the sequence in which the equations are applied are analytically proven. The principle of the proposed calculation method is illustrated through evaluation of several examples and the observed relations are discussed. The proposed calculation method can be applied for design of interferometric optical fiber sensors with multiplexed sensing elements.
