This paper investigates the use of Latin “quantifiers” multus and magnus in the comedies of Plautus and Terence, as well as their relationships with quantification and with the question words quot? and quantus? A category of “almost mass” nouns reluctant to be quantified by multus is identified on the basis of its tendency to be quantified by magnus.
