Investigation and study on the novel method of preparing Al-V alloy by electrode assisted heating
Abstract
A novel method was developed to produce Al-V alloy electrode assisted heating (EAH) technology. The experimental results showed that the cracks in the alloy were significantly reduced and the distribution of the Al8V5 is significantly changed in the alloy. In the experiment, the products with heating time 0 and 10 min were systematically compared and analyzed. It was found that the EAH process has an obvious effect on limiting the contents of O and N in the alloy when the heating time was 10 min. The O and N contents in the AlV55 alloy were significantly reduced by 0.053% and 0.014%, and their ratios were reduced by 69.89% and 69.64%, respectively. Similarly, the O and N contents in the AlV65 alloy were significantly reduced by 0.031% and 0.025%, and their ratios were reduced by 26.19% and 53.7%, respectively. The EAH process significantly decreased the contents of V in the slags of AlV55 and AlV65 alloys, which were decreased by 0.083% and 0.117%, respectively. It indicated that the Al-V alloy preparation process can be effectively controlled by the EAH method and it is suitable for large-scale industrial production.
