Stabilization of clay soils using lime additive is the most preferred method due to both economic and environmental effects. The improvement in the engineering properties of the soil after stabilization allows the use of lime-added soils in fillings. Compaction delay that may occur during the placement by compacting in the field with different compaction energies for use in the filling causes a significant effect on the performance of additive soils. In this study, the effects of delayed compaction in soil strength properties have been investigated after mixing soil samples provided from a road project with hydrated lime. On the samples which contain high (CH) and low (CL) plasticity clay soils mixed with (0,3,6,9,12,15% by dry weight) lime, compaction tests have been conducted with the Standard Proctor level right after mixing and after 7-day-cured. In order to investigate the effect of delayed compaction and lime additive percentage on both compaction characteristics and strength, a total of 22 compaction tests and a total of 64 unconfined compressive strength(UCS)tests were carried out on samples that were left uncured, 7 days and 28 days cure. The effect of delayed compaction on UCS values was much more effective in samples left on cure for 28 days.It has been determined that in soil stabilization with lime additive, especially long-term delayed compaction causes significant effects on the strength depending on the soil type.
