Aplicabilidad de la normativa sobre protección de datos de carácter personal en el ámbito de la función estadística pública

Abstract

Public statistical function primarily consists in the treatment of certain data which are collected by several specialized public services ¿usually connected with different Administrations¿ and destined to the production of information to be published, as addressed to the Community as a whole. Such data may be referred to individuals and therefore, in this area very well could occur a partial application of Organic Law 15/1999, December 13th, on the Protection of Personal Data; that application, however, seems to be directly excluded by this Law. The ultimate goal of this article is to analyze whether the aforementioned Organic Law should or should not be applied in the ambit of actuation of the public statistical services.
