In order to study the inhibition effect of metal mesh on gas explosion, the explosion suppression test device of cylindrical metal mesh in pipeline was designed. The suppression effect of metal mesh on shock wave was studied by comparing the variation of shock wave overpressure under the condition of air-tube experiment and explosion suppression device. The experimental results show that the ratio of length to diameter of cylindrical metal mesh has a great influence on shock wave, and the suppression rate of shock wave is positively correlated with the ratio of length to diameter of cylindrical metal mesh. When the ratio of length to diameter of cylindrical metal mesh is 1/0.2, the increase of elastic potential energy of metal mesh plays a leading role in suppression, and the increase of energy in metal mesh plays a leading role in suppression when the ratio of length to diameter is 2/0.2, 3/0.2.
