MULHERES NA GESTÃO UNIVERSITÁRIA: A ÓTICA DE DOCENTES DE MINAS GERAIS
Abstract
Even though women are present in many many labor market sectors, they can, still, find difficulties, mainly, in the management exercise, like in senior positions. In this sense, it was sought, with this research, to understand the manager teachers percpetion about manager women in the federal universities management from Minas Gerais. Methodologically, a qualitative research was made, by means of semi-structured interviews with 18 manager teachers from federal universities from Minas Gerais. It was verified that the socially constructed roles for man and for woman can influence the work relations in the context of university management. It was noticed that, for some interviewed teachers, as regards to women in senior positions, there is a wrong view about gender inequality overcoming. To other women, the inequalities are still present. It was verified, by means of the interviews, several conflicts in the work environment which show the faces of prejudice and discrimination in university management. To deal with these conflicts, strategies can be developed in the sense of adjusting to a figure which is expected in management positions. In this way, the management exercise shows up as a challenge to women, especially, because of gender inequality.
