Degradation of the insecticide chlorpyrifos was investigated in sterilized soil samples supplemented by the white rot basidiomycete Phanerochaete chrysosporium. Degradation rates were measured during 21-day incubation at pesticide concentrations of 0,95, 5,3, and 9,4 µg/g. Phanerochaete chrysosporium showed ability to biodegrade the insecticide in values of 96,3%, 82,4% and 62,2%, respectively, followed by rapid degradation at low initial concentration of chlorpyrifos.
