Abstract
Eight Anthologies come under Agam part of life, the subject matter of ‘Ettuthogai’ deals with intangibles of life such as human emotions, love, separation, lovers’ quarrels, and all. Eight anthologies throw light on human emotions, thought process which is expressed through their five senses. In many places, the position of language is occupied by bodily gestures and movements. Eight anthologies portray the Sangam people’s relationship with others, their emotions, and thought processes with body language rather than speaking/written language in a grand manner. Thus, there is a need to study on the real zeal of the works of ‘Éttuthogai’. A detailed study of human gestures was needed to be done on those classical Tamil works. Hence, this paper aims to decode such elements based on gestures in the chosen works.
