This article aims to present the protocol and the first results of experimental research within the framework of a thesis that deals with narrative engagement as a learning engagement in the player/learner both in serious games and leisure video games, framing them in formal and informal learning contexts. A multivariate analysis of the data collected was carried out through questionnaires and interviews beforehand, during, and after the video game sessions carried out over four months. At the end of this article, we present the first results of the aforementioned analysis considering the formal learning context. For this cycle of experimentation, participants reported greater engagement in learning when there was also greater narrative engagement. Although the results suggest a correlation between narrative and learning engagement, more studies are needed to obtain more conclusive data on the relationship between these two types of engagement experienced when playing these video games in informal learning.
