In this study the different types of local entities mentioned in the recent Act on Local Entities of Euskadi are associated and analyzed. Thus, we deep into the study of the Basque municipalities, councils from Alava, municipal associations, the brotherhoods of services, the Cuadrillas from Alava, minor local entities, the metropolitan areas, the counties, and other local entities and finally, although they are not qualified as local entities, the consortiums. Likewise, they are described the issues that characterise this act as far as the typology of local entities is concerned: the enhancement of local autonomy as local «government», the municipality as a basic local entity, the respect to foral competences by the historic territories in that area and accordingly the historic local entities (particularly in Alava), the respect by the basic State legislation in that particular point studied in the typology, the preservation of the pre-existing local map, the commitment for a shared management of public services, the future based on the inter institutional cooperation network and on the collaboration agreements as a more simple and efficient formula for management, etc...
