The knee provides the body with mobility and stability needed to perform everyday functions. In addition,the knee joint plays a role in our proprioception and muscle coordination through the ligaments. Theseknee ligaments are involved in stabilizing the joint. The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a ligament thatprotects the tibia from forward translation. It is one of the most injured ligaments in the knee, with almost400,000 patients undergoing ACL reconstruction surgery each year in the United States. This review aimsto present a concise overview of previous and current management options available to treat ACL injuries.
