Les libelles internationaux à la période moderne : étude préliminaire
Abstract
The recent historiography of libels has emphasised their roles in asserting and applying the mores and values of a community, social, linguistic, moral, political. In this essay I show that some libels travelled outside of and among communities. Using a series of seventeenth-century examples, I offer a taxonomy of the ways in which libels could operate internationally or trans-locally.
