The article examines the modes of gas passage through the chimney of a direct-acting steam generator set using a laboratory stand made of a cylindrical coil. The criterion for determining the gas flow regime is a dimensionless quantity called the Reynolds number. The air flow velocities and temperatures were determined experimentally. Based on these results, the Reynolds number was calculated and the flow regimes at each measurement point were determined, and the dependence of the Reynolds number on temperature and velocity was obtained, and the experiment was analyzed. With the help of the ANSYS program, a model of air movement on the stand was built. When deciphering the geometric model, the ANSYS SpaceClaim program was used. The model made it possible to estimate the distribution of the air flow velocity in the boiler model based on experimental values. Further, after constructing a geometric model using the ANSYS Icem CFD program, a dispersion model was cre-ated that showed the temperature distribution of flue gases in the external gas flow of the basic model of a direct-flow steam boiler. The processing of experimental data showed a further prospect of intensification of the heat exchange process in a direct-flow steam boiler of the coil type.
