The article presents data on the role of the liver in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, describes glucose metabolism features in insulin resistance and the role of glucokinase pathways of glucose uptake in the hepatocyte. The results of experimental and clinical studies of the effect of biotin on metabolism of glucose, lipids, amino acids, and the possibility of its use in the treatment of patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease were considered.
