A WORK ABOUT THE HISTORY OF EASTERN TURKISTAN: KİTÂBI GAZÂT DER MÜLK-İ ÇİN
Abstract
The Chinese are one of the nations in which Turks are mostly involved during their history. The Chinese are sometimes friendly and often fighting with their northern neighbors, Turks. This fight started with Huns, the oldest known Turkish state, constantly continued until the period of Gokturks, Uighurs, Karakhanids, Turk-Mongol states and the khanates established on their heritages. The continuing Turkish-Chinese fights not only left behind an enormous work of art such as the Great Wall of China, which the Chinese empire built to protect its northern borders, but also caused a rich heritage in many areas from history to literature, from language to economy, and from military to diplomacy. Although, the Chinese have led the way to pass this heritage into writing, Turks have also been involved in carrying it into the future generations. One of the Turks who acted with this consciousness was Molla Bilal Nazımî. In this study, the work called as “Kitâb-ı Gazât der Mülk-i Çin” will behighlighted from the aspects of author, copy history, context spelling and language qualities as telling the struggle of Uighur Turks againts Hıtay/Chinese and Kalmak penned by Mullah Bilal Nazım, having lived in20th century among Uighur Turks in Eastern Turkestan. Since it is a text of postclassical Chagatai language, we will try to inform about the context of this historical accent of Turkish language and we will compare the writing, vocal and form qualies with this historical accent of Turkish language. We will also shed light on the work by focusing on the vocabulary such as names of places related to Mongolian belonging to the same language group with Turkish language as well as names of places, government, military service, war in the text..
