The article is devoted to the analytical review of the I. Bobrowski (1917-1965) as a writer and a citizen of his country in the context of two cultures of Germany in the nineties of the XX century. The creative and social activity of I. Bobrowski with his genuine, honest internationalism was relevant and during the artificial division of the German nation, and today, when on the world map re-emerged the united Germany. The aim of the research article is to comprehend the artistic conception of the writer, and to reveal the specifics of his humanistic views, literary and imaginative reconstruction of nation’s history in Germany.Method and methodology of work. As material of the study served a selection of lite-rary criticism articles and literature theorists and works of I.Bobrowski. In the analysis of the presented topics, comparative historical and structural techniques were used.Results. Our study provides reason to believe that the writer, who can be also regarded as a representative of post-war German generation, «was looking for himself» during the so-called great opposition and «came» in the history of literature as a daring innovator, an implacable opponent of social injustice and the undisputed heir to the great traditions of German art , whose talent in the poetry and prose manifested itself with equal force. Like no other Bobrowski managed to catch the subtle nuances and describe the lives and consciousness of man in «polynational pot» and proposed a model of peaceful coexistence of people.Area of application. The results our research can be used at lectures on the history of foreign literature of XX century, in the course «History of German Literature» at the faculties and departments of Germanic Philology institutes and universities.
