This paper seeks to leverage digital humanities in the teaching of Portuguese as a foreign language. Often classic texts such as Dom Casmurro are out of the reach of the non-native speaker. The gamified graphic graded reader aims to develop multimodal entry points to the student of Brazilian literature who is still learning Portuguese as a foreign language. Motivational factors and gamified words will intensify the way the student interacts with literature in their second language while enhancing the teaching experience of the foreign language. The sample text provided in this paper leverages the works of Rodrigo Rosa and Ivan Jaf in their graphical remediation of Machado de Assis and is aimed for the advanced student of Portuguese as a foreing language.
