Dam as one of the development infrastructure of regional and national each country is, different effects on the surrounding regoin, including rural settlements. The effects of the various aspects is effective including social component and sustainability.This paper aimed to investigate the social impacts of dams on the sustainability of rural settlements, is emphasized as a case study Karun-3 of Dam. Karun-3 of Dam as the largest dam in the Middle East located in the Izeh County. The research methodology based on the nature is descriptive- analytical and based on the purpose is functional. Through 63 village surrounding the Karun-3 Dam with due to specific geographical properties, were selected 38 village.The statistical population included 2,531 households, which is calculated using a Cochran formula 334 households as sample and eventually need to increase the the confidence sample, the number increased to 350 households. The results showed that the dam is high of impact on variables including the development of amenities - servicing, population dynamics, spatial dependence, housing and socio-cultural structure of rural settlements. trend the impacts before and after of creation dam Lead to social instability.So that has an important role the in trend indicators isuch as the lack of facilities as well as the accelerate migration of rural.In addition, between groups defined rural dam impressive result are significant differences in terms of each of the social variables.
