New sphragistic data about the history of Byzantine Cherson in the 8th – 9th centuries

Abstract

The author presents a new Byzantine seals of the 7th – 9th centuries. The seals were found at the territory of medieval Cherson and surroundings. It’s the first publication some lead seals of local administration officials: 1.1-3. Theodotos, hypatos and archon of Cherson, the first half of 8th century. 2. Zoilos, hypatos and archon of Cherson, the end 8th – the beginning of 9th century. 3. Zoilos, hypatos, 7th –8th centuries. 4. Zoilos, hypatos and imperial spatharios, 8th century. 5.
