While (oxy)hydroxides are effective oxygen evolution electrocatalysts, the impacts of pre-catalyst properties on catalyst activities are challenging to assess. Here, authors find Mo dopants in Ni-Fe (oxyhydroxides) to promote lattice oxygen participation and to boost oxygen evolution activities.
