The flow of people, materials and equipment in hospitals is high, making its management a complex task, since care must be taken to ensure the life and safety of patients. To this end, a number of new technologies have been introduced into the market, such as the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system. This system aims to facilitate the management of information through the tracking of medical teams, patients, drugs and equipment. Thus, this article aims to map the main benefits and implications generated in hospital systems resulting from the use of this technology. The work was based on a bibliographic research on international databases that allowed for the construction of a synthesis of the main information obtained with the application of this technology. With the analysis, it was concluded that RFID has the capacity to provide significant benefits in hospital systems in terms of the management of materials, equipment and people, and its implementation helps the decision-making process in these environments. In addition, the possibility of using RFID in systems other than logistics is also highlighted.
