New developments in scientific knowledge in the social field have rethought the fundamentals of most social sciences, which is relevant for finance and accounting, which have begun to rely on other sciences such as psychology, parametric and not parametric statistics and sociology, among others, in such a way that the understanding and explanation of heritage dynamics better fit the reality studied. Specifically in the field of decision-making, the principle of the classical economics of rationality as the basis for the best choice has proved insufficient to understand financial decisions, which depart from that principle and which require incorporating other explanatory elements, as are the behavioral characteristics, which are not necessarily rational, but emotional, affective, emotional axiological, among others. In this article, a grounded analysis of the theoretical elements that allow to elucidate these new approaches is carried out, showing in the first instance the immersed problem, deepening through a reflexive analysis based on theoretical developments of the arguments around these themes, the constructs that lead to better interpretative and propositive solutions in the field of financial decision making, which are reflected in the epistemological foundation of a comprehensive explanatory financial model from the approach of behavioral finance and under the complexity paradigm.
