Analysis of the current status and influencing factors of bone mass abnormality among young people based on health examination population
Abstract
Objective To analyze the characteristics and influencing factors of young people with bone mass abnormality in Beijing who underwent health examination, providing a basis and reference for the prevention and treatment of osteopenia and osteoporosis. Methods Data were collected from 973 individuals aged≤40 years who underwent health examination, including bone mineral density (BMD) testing, at Beijing Friendship Hospital,Capital Medical University, from January to July 2023. Among them, 348 young people had bone mass abnormality,while 625 had normal bone mass.Potential related indicators were selected to analyze the occurrence and potential influencing factors of bone mass abnormality among young health examination population. Results The incidence of bone mass abnormality in young health examination population was 35.77%, with 91.67% of cases involving osteopenia and 8.33% involving osteoporosis. Males accounted for 57.47% and females for 42.53%. Univariate analysis showed that the occurrence of bone mass abnormality was correlated with multiple factors, including gender, age, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), uric acid (UA), smoking, and alcohol consumption (P<0.05). Further multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that age (OR=1.045), lower BMI(OR=0.761),TG (OR=2.828),UA(OR=1.007),alcohol consumption (OR=5.238),and smoking (OR=1.853) were risk factors for bone mass abnormality (P<0.05). Conclusion The detection rates of osteopenia and osteoporosis are rising among young adults.Emphasis should be placed on health examinations and early screening for BMD.
