A series of etchings of the Odessa graphic artist Victor Efimenko (1933-1994) was studied for the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov «The Master and Margarita», created between 1978 and 1992. The interrelation between the content and form of the graphic series, the peculiarity of the artistic style of Efimenko is considered. It is shown that the artistic kinship between the works of Bulgakov and Efimenko was manifested not only at the level of problems, but also poetics. The artistic analysis shows that Efimenko uses a self-portrait and portraits of people close to him in creating images of the novel, which indicates a tendency to reflect, the ability to cognize oneself. It is shown that the graphic series combines academicism and mystical realism, symbolism and grotesque, the scientific approach of the artist-teacher and emotional perception of Bulgakov›s novel. In the artistic analysis of the works, the relationship with the world art is traced. The compositions of Efimenko are examined in interrelation with the art of poster and cinematography. It is concluded that the series reflects the synthesis of literature and graphics. The artistic form is characteristic of polystylism.
