ANTI-ULCER ACTIVITY OF Ocimum sanctum ( Thulasi ) LEAVES IN COMPARISON WITH FAMOTIDINE INRATS
Abstract
The study was conducted in adult albino rates of either sex weighing 150-200 gm to assess the anti-ulcer property of Ocimum sallctuni leaves given orally at different dose levels and frequency in aspirin induced gastric ulcers, in comparison with Famotidine. The result of the present study with O. sanctacm leaf powder and alcoholic extract showed that none of the experimental group produced statistically significant healing effect comparable to Famotidine groups.
