During the 90’s, the number of registered foreigners in Spain has strongly increased. A large share of them consists of economic immigrants from Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America, which is the most common origin of the immigrants. The characteristics of this human group remain largely unknown due to the complexity of the emigrational phenomena, the novelty of the foreign inflows to Spain and the deficiencies, regarding populations’ mobility, that the available statistical sources have. The focus of this project is that of improving the characterisation of immigration of Latin American origin in Spain using last Municipal Population Registers (the 1st of January 2005) whose results became available on the 29th of April 2005.
