Between the dramaturgy and techniques popular theater: Augusto Boal in the crossroads Brazil-Argentine

Abstract

This paper analyzes the proposal about popular theater that Augusto Boal developed in 1970, between Brazil and Argentine. In order that, it discusses the theoretical content included in book Teatro do oprimido e outras poéticas políticas, studies their influences and elaborates comparisons with three plays that Boal writes between Brazil and Argentine and that he premieres in Buenos Aires with argentines performers. Over time, Boal abandons the dramaturgy and he concentrates in the development, experimentation and diffusion of techniques of popular theater. This article proposes a hypothesis about that abandonment.
