Effect of Volume Fraction of EAA on the Swelling Effect of PC-ABS in EAA-NMP-H2O Swelling System
Abstract
To investigate the effects of ethyl acetoacetate(EAA) concentration and swelling time on the swelling performance of polycarbonate-polyacrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer(PC-ABS) in swelling system, the PC-ABS substrates were subjected to swelling treatment using EAA-N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone(NMP)-H2O system. Subsequently, employing an H2SO4-MnO2-H2O system as the micro-etching system, the PC-ABS substrates were micro-etched for 20 min at 70 ℃. Results showed that when the volume fraction of EAA in the swelling system was 50% and the swelling temperature was 55 ℃, the PC-ABS could obtain appropriate swelling degree after 5 min of swelling. Following this condition, swelling and micro-etching treatments led to the formation of evenly distributed and dense pores on the surface of the PC-ABS substrates. The contact angle between the substrate surface and water decreased, enhancing the hydrophilicity of the substrate surface. Consequently, the adhesive strength between the subsequently electroless copper plating layer and the PC-ABS substrate reached 4.03 N/cm, achieving the desired swelling and micro-etching effects.
