This article aims to analyze the book Tropical Dreams by writer and physician Moacyr Scliar and the homonymous film adaptation of the Brazilian filmmaker André Sturm. These two media, the book and the cinema, have specificities that sing them out when looked at by the generalizing perspective of the universe of the Arts. The instruments of each provide forms compatible with the vehicle that support them, that is, the narrative romanesca grounded in prose and film work in images, sounds, realistic scenarios and performances. Supported by the film taxonomies of Gilles Deluze in Image-time (2005) and by the theories of adaptation presented by Linda Hutcheon (2013), we will explore in this work the creative potential of each work: the exquisite scenographic space of the film and the temporal disparity of the book, Demonstrating how the new media conditions of our time give feedback to the artists' creativity
