Mathematics in the training of an engineer: mathematics in context as a methodological proposal.
Abstract
This article establishes the proposed methodology for the teaching of mathematics at the level of Engineering to the learning phase of the Mathematics in Context of Science. By selecting a contextualized event are the steps that the math teacher should continue to present students with a mathematical context. It works with the particular case of a differential equation to mathematically determine the order of a chemical reaction, linking two areas of advanced mathematics knowledge with advanced biochemistry, courses taken by a Process Engineer Bioalimentarios Technological Universities subsystem. The proposed methodology is distinguished by previous activities, such as the proper selection of the event into context, identifying previous mathematics knowledge and discipline on the context, and the design of the learning situation in which we work with mathematics in Context. These activities should be performed by the teacher before proposing students contextualized learning situation. The findings suggest that the implementation of this proposed methodology students become active participants with a starring role in their academic and professional while the teacher becomes a guide and facilitator of knowledge, where his main role is to design learning situations and their conduct during the execution of the same.
