In recent years, ionic liquids have been utilized as one environmental benign working fluid for chemical reaction and absorption/separation process. In the current study, the interfacial absorption reaction and mass transfer process of CO2 and ionic liquids has been conducted under different temperature conditions. A non-intrusive measurement method of interfacial reactive process by pixelated-array masked phase-shifting interferometry and then used to obtain the basic absorption characteristics of ionic liquid and its effectiveness of CO2 capture in this study. The transient absorption process has been captured and applied to calculation of equivalent reaction/transfer parameter of the process. In addition, the comparison between normal ionic liquid and functional ionic liquid has been made in this study and it is found that the functional type has higher absorption transport rate. Higher absorption transport can be found for 35.0 °C and mid-concentration states.
