Research on the Impact of Marine Industrial Structure Upgradation on Marine Total Factor Productivity

Based on the panel data of 11 coastal provinces in China from 2000 to 2019, this paper empirically examined the impact of marine industrial structure upgradation on marine total factor productivity, and established a panel threshold model which taking marine industrial structure upgradation as the threshold variable to investigate the nonlinear impact of marine industrial structure upgradation on marine total factor productivity. The results showed that marine industrial structure upgradation had a significant positive effect on the growth of marine total factor productivity, and the marine industrial structure upgradation had a heavy threshold in the process of promoting the improvement of marine total factor productivity, and as the marine industrial structure upgradation crossed a threshold, the marine industrial structure upgradation played an increasingly important role in promoting marine total factor productivity. According to the conclusions of the study, the transformation of sea-related industries should be accelerated, the development of marine emerging industries encouraged and at the same time the current situation of China's marine industry development should be combined to formulate specific countermeasures for different industries in the future.
