Abstract A multibeam antenna with a single input port using a cavity‐based waveguide structure is implemented. The proposed structure uses a cylindrical cavity and a higher‐order TM21 mode is excited in it. The higher‐order mode is to divide the incoming power in three different directions. The beam in three different directions is confined by using a 3D‐printed extended hemispherical lens integrated at three openings at the cylindrical cavity. The proposed structure has measured an impedance bandwidth of 1.7 GHz from 56.9 to 58.6 GHz. The achieved beam directions for the proposed antenna structure is 0, 87 and 270°. The measured gain of the antenna for each beam directions is better than 12 dBi.
