Review of: Lamazhaa Ch. K. National character of Tuvans. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nestor-Istoriia. 240 p. ISBN 978-5-4469-1406-7 The review examines the main research positions of the author and the methodological foundations of her study. The author of the book as a philosopher recognizes the importance of the researcher's subjectivity, making note of this as a manifestation of post-non-classical type of scientific rationality, but keeps close to objectivist positions in her study. Importantly, the author leaves no place for subjectivity in her assessments. The reviewer pays particular attention to those sections of the book where Ch. K. Lamazhaa explores the modernization potential of Tuva. At the same time, it is considered important to preserve the traditional foundations of culture and recognize the role of national and cultural identity of Tuvans in the process of modernization. Another promising dimension for further research lies in the field of comparative analysis of ethnic and cultural characteristics of the peoples of Central Asia, to which the author devotes a separate section in the monograph.
