Civilizational prerequisites for the political and socio-economic evolution of Russia

Abstract

The article presents the author’s view on the historical and cultural grounds for understanding the current Russian socio-political process, and the formation of the strategy for social development. Besides, the relevance of institutions and practices borrowed from Western cultural experience in the process of reforming the Russian society is covered. Gradually considering the domestic history, the author reveals the structural factors that determined the features of the Russian national ethos, the configuration of the model of interaction between society and power, the political order, the reflection of democracy by the public consciousness.
