This essay develops the current problems involved in communicating science to the public in Latin America. Emphasizes the social and economic characteristics of the region and stops to analyze the origins of public science communication, its characteristics and challenges. Also interested in placing scientific journalism as a specialty communication if science and technology, the challenges fou face and the importance of form to function as a science journalist. Rank the role of scientists as communicators and recognizes the important rol that the universities will compete in communicating science to the public.
