Abstract

Fiction of all fictions, Desperate Housewives, between irony and empathy, accumulates and dislocates the codes of the soap opera to put on screen the imagination of a nation. From marked story, the series makes a mode of reading out of repetition: repetition of situation, but also the repetition of preexisting fictions. Desperate Housewives makes an art of repetition out of the TV series by celebrating American popular culture.
