It is well known that the only way to keep a proper doctor-patient relationship is through good communication, but in most critical care units this is lost due to several factors; there doesn´t always exist the appropriate link with relatives. In that way the question is: Is there effective communication?Arethe needs of families of patients are satisfied? How is the doctor-patient relationship? Approaches are being made frequently. Interviews were carried out with the families of critically ill patients admitted to the Critical Care Unit of the Hospital of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security, IESS, Milagro, Ecuador, with SDMO ( Multi- Dysfunction Organic Syndrome) produced by sepsis and Therapeutic Effort limitation (LET ). Under these criteria, a descriptive survey was developed to find out about the overall perception of the quality of care provided to patients and their families, and the needs of families of patients. The best expression of the doctor - patient-family relationship is reflected in the medical and family interview and is both an indicator of quality of care, as is valuing the external customer satisfaction.
