In this work, we have evaluated the performance of mucilages from seeds of Hyptis suaveolens, Linum usitatissimum and Salvia hispanica as stabilizers in liquid formulations and as binders and disintegrants in solid pharmaceutical forms. The behavior of both liquid and solid formulations prepared with the isolated mucilages was evaluated and compared with reference excipients resulting in most cases very similar. In addition, our parallel investigation of these mucilages in both liquid and solid pharmaceutical forms allowed us to describe some relationships between its physicochemical properties and the final formulation’s performance.
