The treatments using Baishouwu as Chinese herbal medicines to improve the patient’s disease are regarded as an important medicinal property due to the protection of the kidneys, liver, lowering blood sugar, strengthens bones and muscles, as well as improves the function of immune system. Because of the microorganisms that coexist in the human intestine, herbal medicines work as drugs for the gastrointestinal tract and the human immune system. The gut microbiota made up of bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes has a beneficial relationship with the humans because there are about 1,000 microorganisms living in the gut that regulate many of the body's physiological functions. The intestinal nervous system has been identified as the second brain in terms of its autonomy and similarity to the central nervous system. Therefore, in this review article, the application of Baishouwu dealt with the effective drug delivery methods with the highest effect is considered. Examining the Baishouwu plant in other studies, there is a requirement to study this medicinal plant as an urgent need due to its many medicinal applications. To date, the therapeutic effects of Baishouwu were studied by pharmacological studies and it was found that Baishouwu was traditionally beneficial for liver nutrition. According to theories of Chinese medicine, Baishouwu has great value in nourishing the kidneys and strengthening bones and muscles. However, the relationship between potential mechanisms, and other biological activities is unclear. Pharmacological effects are directly related to herbal compounds, which determine their therapeutic effects on easy access.
