This paper studies the influence of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) on the α-Olefin Sulfonate (AOS) foam generation and foam stability. Partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide added into the AOS solution can increase the surface tension of the formula as well as its viscosity. From the gas-flow method, the optimal AOS concentration must be 0.1% or so if the biggest foam volume and the best stability are to be obtained. The research also shows that the formula viscosity being the same, the molecular weight of the partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide has little influence on the foam capability.
