“The siege of Numantia”: An incarnate outline of corruption from the Cervantine drama
Abstract
I analyze the play The siege of Numancia, by Miguel de Cervantes, as a key writing that hides certain discourses concerning corruption. For this, from the point of view established by the link between Law and Literature, I am interested in explaining how, in order to propose a different approach to this phenomenon, body studies can make a meaningful approach. From political philosophy and literature theory, I try to understand how certain gestures can bring to light ideologies that make the “phantom of corruption” imperceptible, while trying to give back to the body its place of enunciation, as a depositary of rights.
