Health food, which is a specific type of food, plays an important role in chronic disease prevention, health promotion and life quality improvement. In order to promote the healthy, sustainable and high-quality development of Chinese health food industry, this paper summarizes the current situation of health food standardization works in China, analyzes the existing problems, and puts forward suggestions and prospects. The top-level design of the health food standard system in China is urgently needed, and some important standards are still missing, and the standards system also fails to play its role in supporting the legal and regulatory system. To promote the healthy, sustainable, and high-quality development of the Chinese health food industry, this paper suggestes setting up and strengthening the health food standard system to meet the demand of the standardization in supply-side structural reform, to develop the important standards as soon as possible to meet the needs of high-quality development of the industry, and to improve the health food laws and regulations system and standard system of good coordination supporting mechanism to meet the "the four strictest" regulatory requirements.
