Startups are innovative enterprises operating among others in the area of high technologies. They introduce new products or services to the market while testing new business models. One of the main problems faced by startups is to raise capital for development. Venture capital funds play an important role in financing enterprises in their early stages of operations. They invest not only their capital, but also an advisory body on business management issues. The aim of the study is to identify and assess the investment activity of venture capital funds in financing startups in Poland. Eurostat data was used to achieve the goal. The basic measures of descriptive statistics were used in analysis. The results indicate that in recent years the role of venture capital investments in financing startups in Poland has been growing. From year to year, not only the number of financed enterprises in the startup stage increases, but also the total value of venture capital investments. Research shows that venture capital investors in Poland are mainly interested in two stages of startup development: a later stage and a startup stage. They finance companies in the seed stage to a small extent.
