El espacio del arte de lenguaje en la "Institutio oratoria" de Quintiliano

Abstract

En este estudio nos proponemos abordar algunas de las características del pensamiento teórico-literario y de la actividad crítico-literaria de Quintiliano y su utilidad para la consolidación y el enriquecimiento en la actualidad de algunas de las más prometedoras líneas de investigación teórico-crítica basadas en el comparatismo, la interdiscursividad y las concepciones cultural de la Retórica y retórica de la cultura. Para ello revisamos algunas de las lecturas que Quintiliano recomienda en el Libro X de la Institutio oratoria, lecturas que tienen como objeto obras literarias, textos historiográficos y tratados filosóficos, además de discursos propiamente retóricos, y damos cuenta de las relaciones de semejanza y de diferencia que establece entre aquéllos, siempre desde el punto de vista de la utilidad de los tres primeros géneros discursivos para la formación del buen orador. Como conclusión, subrayamos el planteamiento teórico-literario plenamente vigente que sigue teniendo en la actualidad Quintiliano.Palabras clave: Arte de lenguaje, Institutio oratoria, Quintiliano, Poética, Retórica, Literatura, Oratoria, Historiografía, Filosofía, Interdiscursividad, Retórica Cultural, Literatura Comparada AbstractIn this paper we attempt to study some of the characteristics of Quintilian’s theoretical-literary thinking and critical-literary activity, and their usefulness for the current consolidation and enrichment of some of the most promising lines of theoretical-critical research based on comparatism, interdiscursivity and the cultural conception of rhetoric and the rhetoric conception of culture. With this aim in mind, we review some of the readings that Quintilian recommends in Book X of the Institutio oratoria, readings comprising literary works, historiographical texts and philosophical treatises, as well as rhetorical discourses, and we account for the relationships of similarity and difference between them, always from the point of view of the utility of the first three discursive genres for the training of the good orator.
