State of the problem. The article is aimed at studying the formal structure and structural features of the ascertaining part of single-component structures based on writers-doctors’ literary works. These syntactic units have not been described in detail so far and are considered, as a rule, in connection with constructions of a comparatively similar type, which leaves out the essential features of the syntactic units described in this article. Methodology. The study relies primarily on the combination of linguistic descriptions, observations with statistical analysis, which allows one to obtain reliable information on the lexical and grammatical properties of the comparative, its structural and functional features. Results. It has been proved that in the narrative recitals of single-comparative sentences, the comparative relation is always presented more fully than in the assimilating-comparative models. In its structure, this syntactic construction can function as an independent sentence without losing its comparative meaning. The semantic polyfunctionality of the members of the narrative recitals of single-comparative sentences is described and their difference from comparative syntactic units with inclusion signs is substantiated. Observation of the functioning of single-comparative sentences in the literary work of medical writers revealed the functional-semantic properties of the substantive pronoun this, the constructions with which turned out to be more frequent in the literary and journalistic texts of medical writers. Practical implications. The obtained results can be used not only for further studies of the comparative constructions of the Russian language, but also as theoretical material in the course of studying the literary text syntax.
